Child's Day

June 1st is the international Child's Day. On this day every child gets a small gift and feels very, very good. It is a special time for parents too. They enjoy giving their kids what they want and spending time with whole family, when everybody is laughing and having a good time. Off course kids want to get presents everyday but it is impossible. During whole year children get many presents but this day is really special. It's like second Christmas for us. For parents the most important thing is to see smile on their children's faces and this day enables that. Do you have something like this in Spain? Please write, I'm curious.

The fair of April

In Barcelona, in April the Fair of April is celebrated. Last Saturday, it was celebrated in our neighbourhood “Prosperitat”. We met our friends and we spent the afternoon and evening in the square "Angel Pestaña” where we had the celebration. In the afternoon women and men danced “sevillanas” and there were many tents around the place. In the evening there was dancing and drinking for the elderly, a lot of music, groups acting... Next week it will be celebrated at the Forum district where we will go and there will be attractions, dances, shops, restaurants ... and I will tell you more!

It is more than racism

I’m going to write about one of the most important, negative things in a society: racism. Many people think that moving to another country is very easy, but they don’t know how difficult it can be. They don’t know that it means leaving your country of origin, your family, your friends, your boyfriend/ girlfriend, your city or your costumes. They don’t know the pain of the nostalgia. But I have to say that not everybody thinks the same way, some people are very empathic and understanding. They don’t make differences among people: It doesn’t matter whether I’m from Africa or I’m from a South- American country.

Unfortunately, many people have other wrong or stereotyped ideas or thoughts such as the majority of South-American people are part of gangs, the foreigners can’t have the same rights as the Spanish citizens, the immigrants can’t have an education or health security, foreigners have to earn lower salaries in compararison to a Spanish person, etc. I think that these thoughts are the result of pure ignorance, because immigrants don’t want to leave their coutries, their celebrations, their language, their essence…; they have to do it out of necessity. I know that these people want to find a better future, better oportunities, a better education or professional training, they hope to archieve it. But I don’t understand why some people have to reject them.

Each person in the world is different and this is fantastic, because we can learn from eachother. We must have unique and indvidual ideas, because we aren’t living in a dictatorship. We are free!

I just have one wish, one dream: I hope that, some day, all the people in the world can look at each others faces and smile… smile with sincerity, respect and affection. I know that it is difficult, because we’re completely different, but we must listen to the person that we have inside, because everybody is important and valuable in their own way and you have to know that

We’re part of this society.

Poetry in our school

In our school we celebrate Saint George’s day, which has been explained in a post down here.
The students prepare differents projects for this day, such as a Literary poetry contest in Catalan, English, Spanish or French, a phylosophy essay competition, a photography competition etc.
The teachers in our school act as judges and see the images and read the texts and then choose the best to be the winners.
These are the three English poems that won.
TIME
You cannot stop it
Or make it back
As time goes by,
It will not last
If you have work
Then make it fast
‘Coz it won’t wait
For someone late
Time is pure gold
But making you old
Don’t waste your time
To enjoy your life.
Razel Beloso (15 years old)
MY SUNLIGHT
I just can’t live without you
Because you are my sunlight
And I know I never told you,
But, thanks to you, I’m not afraid of the light.
Before, everything was dark
But, one day you came with the light
Before, I was like a lone shark
Until you brought the life light.
I never confess these feelings
But I won`t be weak this time
Within me, keep my true feelings
And try one more time.
I just can’t live without you
because you are my sunlight
And I’ll never be tired to say to you,
I love you my dear light.

OUR RELATION
I love my boyfriend
We meet every weekend
I like the afternoons with him
But prefer him going to the gym
I only think about his eyes
He has a great sight
I like his mouth too
Above all when it's got plenty of food
His kisses are the best
Yesterday I did a test
that told that our relation is incest
He is my brother,
The police can arrest!

THE WEEK FOR HOSPICE

On 19-23 April we organised "The Week for Hospice" in our school. The aim of the undertaking was to raise money for fulfilling the dreams of children from the hospice in Olsztyn.

The very beginning of thid event was planting the bulbs of daffodils on our friend's allotment where they peacefully spent the winter. As soon as spring came, they were ready to be picked up and "The Week for Hospice" to start.

On Wednesday 21st April the students of our school were given the golden opportunity to get acquainted with the idea of hospice by participation in the meeting organised by the institution. After that, with the car full of gardening equipment, food and warm clothes we started our journey to the allotment. After 7 hours of hard and exhausting work interrupted by explosions of laughter and sausages' eating we managed to pick up and decorate all the flowers.

The following day, all the daffodils were successfully sold to the students (who were wearing mainly yellow and green clothes) and teachers of our school. As a result we raised around 800 zł and our school again helped people in need.
